Oleo's
Story - Page 4 The second time, he didn't back me over a log, but after a while I fell to the ground anyway, hoping that this was the key to ending the struggle. It wasn't. We rolled around on the ground as if we were in a professional wrestling match. Unlike professional wrestling, Oleo didn't bite or claw. If he had, it would have been no contest. I'm not sure if this was out of respect for me or if he just wanted to give me a fighting chance. I finally got the stuff on, but it wasn't as easy as the first time. Something had to give. I wasn't going to put both of us through this for months on end. By the next time, I had developed a theory that it was the bottle he didn't like...if I squirted the potion into my hand and rubbed it on, maybe it wouldn't be such a struggle. This was the key. He loved it. Now he flops down as soon as I grab him and I rub the stuff on three times and he licks the excess off my hand. We've got a great connection. I tease, growl, grab and pat him down more than all the others and he loves it. If he thinks I'm not giving him enough attention or not giving it to him quick enough he'll bite my butt to remind me he's there. Some time in all this I started using "checking the wolves" as an excuse to get out of the house and possibly start a jogging routine. The first time I jogged up the hill, I thought I was going to die. That's all I could do...make it up the hill. It wasn't long before I could jog back down after checking the wolves. I've kept it up and the distance and endurance has grown tremendously. It ranks right up there with getting off pasteurized milk as far as all the health-oriented things I've done in the 4 years I've been on this health journey. On one of the YLEO training tapes I remember hearing Gary Young talk about how people needed three things-earth, plants, and animals-to have proper balance in their lives. At the time, I shrugged it off, thinking I didn't have the time. Now I know exactly what he meant...the wolves have added more "reality" to my life than I've had in a long time. I feel more grounded than ever. And having the excuse to jog every other day has helped me get into better shape than I have been since high school. We have just ordered the new Essential Omegas blend from Young Living and look forward to seeing if Oleo likes a mixture of that and Sulfurzyme. There is still some scarring on the tip and the left side of Oleo's nozzle where the rotting was the worst. And there is still a hole in the top of his nozzle that goes to his nasal cavity with which he blows air bubbles while lapping water. However, the healing continues and, as you can see from the progression of the pictures, Oleo is a testament to the power of Young Living oils. One significant lesson out of the many learned-if another wolf pup gets Parvo, we will reach for the oils long before antibiotics. Caleb Eaton
